The Legacy Dance Co. competitive teams were created to teach children the importance of NOT just focusing on winning awards and trophies. The goal is to use competitions and performances as teaching tools to learn the following things that will follow them their entire life:
- Commitment - learning that when you say you will do something, be somewhere, etc, that you don't back out because something better came along.
- Perseverance - never giving up, even if the results are not what you wanted or the going gets tough.
- Being a team player - which it takes all the people working together and is not about individualism.
- Discipline - not just listening to the teacher, but self-discipline (being able to do what is right without being told)
- Patience - Knowing that things take time and will eventually happen, and to just learn to wait.
- Acceptance - Realizing that things might not turn out as you wish, no matter how hard you try, even if it does not seem fair.
- Consideration & Selflessness - Learning to be thoughtful of other people's feelings and not put your own feelings first.
- Respect - That means respect for their parents, their teachers, their team members, the workers at the venues and competitions that we attend, for other studio members, for the property of others, and respect for the art of dance.
Please speak with Ms. Ashley if you are interested in auditioning for Legacy Dance Competitive Teams.
