The end of an era…
We have two big announcements…🤍
•
Ms. Christie has decided to retire from co-ownership of AC Dance & Company. I (Mrs. Ashley) will be taking over full ownership of the studio.
We are all so excited for her new adventures and we can't wait to see what her future holds!
Below is a note from Ms. Christie:
"For over 30 years I have shared my knowledge and passion for dance with hundreds of students. I have been fortunate enough to see many of these students grow into successful adults and in addition been given the opportunity to share my love of dance with their children as well. I am grateful that many of my students have included me in their lives well passed the time they spent in my studio. I've watched as they have moved into adulthood graduating from college, getting married, having children and excelling in their careers. Some have used the knowledge they received from me to continue dancing professionally or teaching dance to children. Others have applied life skills learned in my studio to work in jobs not related to the arts field. Teaching through all these years has truly been a gift to me. I've always told my students that I was lucky because what I did for a living allowed me to live forever. Only because the knowledge I shared could be passed on from those that studied with me. I cherish the memories of so many children that at one moment or another became more confident because I believed in them. What I wanted to be for my students was the person I didn't have as a child. The person who believed in the underdog, the shy or quiet child or the clumsy one that no one gave a chance. I'm so proud of the accomplishments my students have made over so many years and know that under the direction of Ashley they will continue to excel. She was always one of my best students. Teaching dance will always be one of things I truly love to do but as hard as it is to say goodbye, it's time."
For those of you who may not know, I grew up dancing at Ms. Christie's studio as a child. You might have seen the "famous photo" of Ms. Christie and I that is in our office from many years ago. That picture was taken after my second year dancing, and my first year on competition team. I was 9 years old. Most of our staff, Mrs. Bridgette, Mrs. Jordan, Mrs. Sara Frances, all grew up dancing with me too.
Christie has created a Legacy, and I am honored to be able to continue this for her. I would not be here without her mentorship and guidance.
In honor of the Legacy she started and that I will carry on, I am excited to announce that moving forward, the studio will be known as Legacy Dance Company.
I have a lot of exciting plans for the future of this school and I can't wait for this new chapter.
Thank you to Christie for embarking on this journey with me 8 years ago, and for believing in me to continue on my own. 🤍
Love,
Mrs. Ashley and Ms. Christie
