What we offer...
- Classical Ballet training develops line, form, muscle strength, flexibility, balance and coordination and is the basic foundation of all dance forms.
- Pointe students must complete several years of serious ballet training and develop strong legs and ankles along with good technique for this class. Must be at least 11 years old. Caution: Attempting Pointe without utilizing the proper training will cause permanent damage.
- Jazz uses ballet technique to create a more stylized form of movement influenced by the music and mood of each decade. Some styles include lyrical jazz, theater jazz, funk jazz, and modern jazz.
- Tap is the development of perfecting rhythmic sounds with the full foot or ball of the foot. Tap dance evolved from the Irish Jig and has developed into many different styles and forms.
- Contemporary is an expressive style of dance that combines elements of classical ballet, modern, jazz and lyrical. Contemporary dance focuses on versatility, floor work, and improvisation.
- Hip-hop dance refers to street dance styles primarily performed to hip-hop music. It has been popularized by shows like America's Best Dance Crew and So You Think You Can Dance. It stemmed from break dancing and has evolved into a variation of styles.
- Acrobatics uses flexibility to perfect contortion tricks, and basic floor tumbling.
- Clogging is an American folk dance similar to tap dancing. Our style incorporates buck and Canadian steps.
Class programs consist of...
- Barre work to stretch muscles, attain flexibility, balance and body control.
- Center work to further progress in flexibility, balance and body control away from the comfort of the ballet barre.
- Across the floor provides the dancer practice of putting different movements together.
- Combinations are at the end of class, usually 16 to 32 counts of music, at a degree of difficulty appropriate to each level.
